Reuse

The St Vincent de Paul Society expanded its electrical reuse work in Bradford and Leeds by hiring a full-time technician and training volunteers to test and safety-check donated items. Drop-off points were set up in shops, schools, offices, and community spaces, with extra driver hours added to collect from homes. The charity’s shops sold safety-tested items, helping low-income households access essentials.

The pilot collected 4,747 electrical items and reused 3,042. All elements of the pilot carried on after the funded period and the St Vincent de Paul Society sought further funding to expand the work.
