Wastesavers teamed up with three South Wales councils to collect more small appliances for reuse.
They set up five donation points and added electricals to the weekly collection service, supported by trained PAT testers at each site. Items in good condition were sold, donated, or given to schools, while the rest were recycled.
The pilot collected 39 tonnes of electricals, reusing 27 tonnes, and used upbeat campaigns like HypnoCat to get more people donating instead of binning their old items. Following on from the pilot, Wastesavers continue to operate in Newport offering kerbside electrical collection and running their reuse shop.
