Derry and Strabane District Council partnered with Repair & Share Foyle to test expanding Repair Cafés would support charity shops, and increase rehoming of working electricals. They also set up seven laptop donation points to boost digital inclusion.
By March 2025, they had collected 152 laptops, refurbished 21 of them and redistributed them to people in need. Across 16 Repair Café events, 124 small household electricals were repaired, and 22 working items rehomed.
Rehoming of electricals and laptop redistribution will continue, supported by established processes and logistics for receiving donations. The council and Repair & Share Foyle plan to trial new donation point locations to maximise accessibility and further strengthen the reuse network.
