North Tyneside Council installed 54 small electrical recycling banks and 29 vape recycling bins across schools and community locations, supported by a targeted awareness campaign. The pilot diverted 9.56 tonnes of small electricals from landfill and collected 12,000 vapes for recycling, increasing electrical recycling by 43.56 percent and embedding the bins into regular council waste operations.
The bring banks and vape bins will remain in use and are now fully integrated into council waste operations as business as usual.
