Brighton and Hove City Council worked with Tech-Takeback to trial an on-demand doorstep collection service for unwanted electricals. Using the ZeroNet app, residents could easily book collections, and an electric van picked up items for reuse or recycling. Electricals were refurbished, donated, or sold through local partners such as Freegle and Digital Brighton & Hove.
The pilot reached around 43,000 people, collecting 15,000 items (12.5 tonnes). It helped people clear space at home and gave others access to refurbished tech. The on-demand doorstep collection service, via the ZeroNet app and Tech‑Takeback, was still active as of mid‑2025.
