Community drop-off points

Cardiff Council made recycling easier by setting up pink electrical bins in 19 busy community spots like libraries and council hubs. Outreach officers spoke to residents about how and why to use them, and waste crews collected electricals on their normal rounds.

The pilot recycled 5.9 tonnes of small electricals and boosted recycling at household waste recycling sites by over 8%. It showed how eye-catching bins and clear messages can get more people recycling.

Recycling bins will stay in place at council hubs and libraries, providing accessible drop-off points. Regular collections are now embedded, and can be adjusted where there is high demand.
