ILM Highland made recycling easier for people in rural communities by setting up ten bring banks for small electricals and running monthly amnesty days in areas such as Skye and Lochcarron. Repairable items were refurbished and sold through ILM’s local store.
The pilot collected 6,902 items (16.3 tonnes) and showed how simple local drop-offs can keep electricals out of landfill and in use for longer.
ILM received more Material Focus funding in 2024, for a further 26 bring banks. They continue to collect electricals through their bring bank network to this day.
