Crest Cooperative teamed up with Conwy County Borough Council to collect electricals, textiles, and bulky waste from residents’ doorsteps for reuse and recycling. Repairable items were cleaned, tested and refurbished. They were then sold in community reuse stores or supplied to social housing partners, all with a 12-month warranty. Parts from broken items were salvaged to cut waste and costs.
The pilot collected and reused over 3,000 appliances (169 tonnes) helping more residents give their old electricals a second life.
Crest continues to collect small electricals from people’s doorsteps and the reuse stores remain open in 2025.
