EMERGE Recycling made it easier for Manchester residents to recycle electricals by offering lots of ways to take part — from bookable household collections and market stalls to donation hubs in schools and businesses. Reusable items were repaired and safety-tested before being sold or donated to FareShare groups. Others were stripped for parts or recycled.
The pilot collected 26.7 tonnes of electricals, reusing 1.5 tonnes, demonstrating how flexible, local options can boost recycling in busy communities. People can still drop off electricals and other items for recycling at EMERGE’s Manchester premises.
