Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council tested small electrical recycling bins at libraries and community centres with a targeted awareness campaign to make recycling easier for residents. The pilot collected 1.09 tonnes of electricals and boosted recycling at household waste recycling centres by 61 percent, embedding the bins into the regular service and strengthening community recycling habits.
The recycling bins are now part of the regular service with collections as needed. The council will continue to promote using Recycle Your Electricals campaigns throughout the year.
